9 Exciting Things to Do In Western Montana This Weekend
When spring time hits Western Montana there isn't a lack of things to do. We say goodbye to "cabin fever" and we get active. This weekend, for example, there are a lot of choices of things to do for everyone in Western Montana.
Western Montana Will Be Busy This Weekend
Wild Walk Parade- The "Wild Walk Parade" is planned for 11am on Saturday. The parade route will move North on Higgins to the XXXXs. This annual event helps to kick off the International Wildlife Film Festival. The staging area for the parade will be in a location this year. This is one of the few parades that goes the opposite way on Higgins.
International Wildlife Film Festival- This event goes hand in hand with the Wild Walk Parade. The International Wildlife Film Festival kicks off Saturday 4/20 and runs through Thursday 4/25. This event features wildlife films from around the globe, with fascinating topics this year, like buffalo, bugs, blue whales and more.
All Under One Roof Week- The "All Under One Roof Week" is being put on at the Missoula Library with the help of spectrUM Discovery Area, Families First, UM Living Lab, and MCAT. This event will help kick off "Earth Day" which is Monday 4/22, focusing on "fun activities and engaging presentations". There is a full week of events planned.
420 Block Party- Saturday is 4/20, which, for some people, is a time for celebration. Missoula will be holding the annual "420 Block Party" in Caras Park downtown Missoula. The event is put on by the Montana State Hempfest. It is an event where people can come together "to celebrate and advocate for cannabis."
Discovery Day- The National Park Service is kicking off "National Park Week", with park fees waived in Glacier National Park on Saturday 4/20 for their "Discovery Day".
Record Store Day- Nationally "Record Store Day" is Saturday 4/20. Missoula has three pretty amazing record stores that will be stocked with the latest in vinyl and will be offering deals and fun events for the day. You should check out Ear Candy Music, Rockin' Rudy's Record Heaven, and Slant Street Records.
MUD- Missoula Urban Development is celebrating Earth Day this Sunday with their "Earth Day" celebration event from 12p-3p at 1527 Wyoming Street. The celebration will feature "an environmental expo, activities and workshops for children and adults, and educational programs, as well as an ice cream truck, and local music."
Kyiyo Pow Wow- The 55th Annual Kyiyo Pow Wow is being held this weekend at the University of Montana's Adams Center. This event is expected to be "full of dancing, singing, and sharing of stories between all in attendance."
Lady Griz Softball- This weekend will be the last regular season home games for Lady Griz Softball. They will be taking on Portland State this weekend with two games on Saturday at 1pm and 3:30pm. The final regular season home game will be Sunday against Portland State at noon.
