The Big Sky’s 12 Logos Ranked — The Best & Worst Revealed

I've been writing about logos a lot recently. The Griz will be dialing it back to 1995 with the throwback uniforms on Homecoming weekend. 

Plus, the Lady Griz redesigned their logo. 

Plus, plus I ranked all the current Montana Grizzlies logos at the bottom of the article.

Now, I'm diving into the Big Sky Conference teams' main logos. I ranked all 12 (counting football) from worst to first.

I'll be honest, there are a lot of generic logos in the conference. My main takeaway is a lot of schools are in need of an overhaul. There are too many generic 2000-looking logos, and we need more creativity.

Cal Poly Mustangs

It's a green and gold "CP." Not a whole lot to it.

Sacramento State Hornets

It's an 'S'? With hornet wings? I understand what it's going for, but it looks like Jackson Pollock tossed this logo together.

Generic animal head #4.

Weber State Wildcats

Generic animal head #3. Damian Lillard attending Weber State gives this logo more flair than it deserves.

Montana State Bobcats

Generic animal head #2. They need to go back to their electrified Bobat, but this is fine.

Montana Grizzlies

I think the Griz script logo is fine. I have it in the middle of the list because it's also generic and a step down from the slobberin' bear. It does look solid on hats and quarter zips, though. I'm also biased.

The gold "I" with Vandals written in front looks good. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Portland State Vikings

"PS" in a shield is a fun play on the Vikings.

UC Davis Aggies

I like the Aggies' logo. Yes, it's very Chicago Bears-like, but adding the 'A' is a nice nod to their agriculture program.

Northern Arizona Lumberjacks

The shading of the axe is so sharp. The mountain in the 'A' is an awesome touch, too. Sharp logo all around.

Eastern Washington Eagles

It took me 20+ years to recognize Eastern's logo has a "U" as the tail. It has "EWU" in the logo and is unique. I think it's the best in the Conference. It's the only Big Sky logo that doesn't look like it's from the modern era. Respect.
