If you lived in Missoula prior to 2000, you remember the big peace sign on Waterworks Hill. It was spray painted onto a piece of telecommunications equipment that looked somewhat like a big billboard.

The community mourned when the beloved sign was taken down piece by piece in 2001. Locals scrambled to grab a piece of Missoula history, and you may have seen one of the nine pieces at Rockin' Rudy's or random backyards around Missoula.

Well get this, there are plans to put those nine pieces back together. I spoke with Betsy from the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center on my Alt 101.5 morning show, and she let the cat out of the bag. The center's 2017 Peace Party has been dubbed "Piece (Peace) It Together," as one of their upcoming projects will be to reconstruct the big peace sign.

The party is Sunday, October 15th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Home Arts Building at the Missoula Fairgrounds. Dinner will be hosted by Homestead Organics and beer & wine is included in the price of your ticket. Enjoy raffles, live & silent auctions, entertainment and even kids activities while you help support the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center. Get tickets and more info at their website.
