I-90 Vehicle Fire Sends One Man To The Hospital For Smoke Inhalation
Late Wednesday night, several agencies responded to the report of a pickup truck on fire on Interstate 90 near the Nine Mile area.
Frenchtown Rural Fire Department Mel Holtz said the call came in just after 9:00 p.m.
"We received a call about a vehicle on fire," Holtz began. "This would be about a mile west of the Nine Mile Exit. Our crews responded with an engine and an ambulance, and upon our arrival we did have a vehicle with a fire in the cab of the pickup truck. We had one person who was inside who we ended up transporting to the hospital."
Holtz said fire crews were able to quickly put out the fire.
"The interior of the truck was a total loss, and crews are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire," he said. "The Montana Highway Patrol was on scene, along with the Missoula County Sheriff's Department and the Frenchtown Fire Department."
Holtz said several drivers stopped to assist with the incident.
"No one else was injured," he said. "There were several other vehicles and people that stopped to render aid. One was able to get a fire extinguisher that they were able to get on the fire which helped dampen it down and for us to put it out after we arrived."
The driver was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
