The storm system seemed to pause Thursday evening to let Hamilton light the Community Christmas Tree and bring Santa to town. Again this year, the street between 3rd and 4th Streets on Main was completely filled with hundreds of adults and kids as they helped countdown the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree. The tree seemed to be a beacon for a jolly old elf to arrive. Santa Claus was brought through the crowd in a convertible hot rod. He sat down on the treeside bench and was immediately swamped by the youngsters and families. His two elf helpers wrangled the excited crowd to give everyone a chance to talk to the guy in the red suit. Free candy canes were handed out, too.

As the final child whispered to Santa, the rain began to fall, followed a little later by snow, bringing the event to a satisfying wintertime conclusion. The Hamilton Downtown Association organized the evening. Mother Nature organized the weather. Thanks to everyone for attending.
