One of downtown Whitefish's most beloved breweries closed its doors for good this week.

Great Northern Brewing Company, which has been in business for 24 years, permanently shut down on Monday, February 17th.

The building was sold to a business in California owned by Rod Isackson, and it's unknown what he plans to do with it - but it should also be noted that his business also bought Marcus Foods, the grocery store nearby. Marcus Foods remains open and there's no plans to take over operations there until next year, but its future remains unclear after that.

It's never great to see a popular community staple shut down, but hopefully whatever takes Great Northern's place can provide the town with something worthwhile. What do you think should go into that building?
