The 2022 Sundance Film Festival took place a few weeks ago - virtually, for the second year in a row - and as always, there are a few titles that appeared to make a big impression among critics and attendees.

Before the festival began, we told you about a couple of projects that were filmed here in Montana that made it in - and now, we have a better idea of when we might be seeing one of them.

God's Country Has Been Picked Up By IFC Films

Deadline reports that IFC films has picked up the North American rights to God's Country, a thriller which debuted at Sundance starring Thandiwe Newton in the lead role.

In the film, Newton plays a grieving college professor who confronts two hunters that trespass on her property. The movie was filmed all over, in cities like Livingston, Bozeman, and Dillon.

The film also stars Jefferson White from Yellowstone, who is likely no stranger to filming in Montana.

When Will You Be Able to See God's Country?

IFC Films plans to release God's Country in theaters this fall - a sign of confidence, especially when so many small, independent films end up straight-to-streaming these days. No word yet on an exact release date.

But when it does come out, it'll be in good company - The Old Way, a western starring Nicolas Cage which also filmed in Montana, is aiming to be released around the same time.

Are you excited to check out God's Country when it gets released to theaters?
