Frenchtown Rural Fire was called out to an incident in Mineral County in the early morning hours on Thursday.

Spokesman Mel Holtz provided details of the tense situation.

“Officers needed some assistance with a medical call,” said Holtz. “While we were responding, there was a report of a man in the Alberton area that had a weapon that was noticeable and there were some unusual circumstances going on. The officers were notified and we were told to have our crew stage in the box until they could figure out what was going on.”

Holtz said the word came down a few minutes later that there was no danger to the first responders.

On a happier note, Holtz said the generous owners and staff at Bridger Aerospace in Bozeman made another flight to the Missoula airport with more face shields for several other agencies in western Montana.

“Bridger Aerospace has come through again with another donation for western Montana area departments,” he said “Clinton Fire, Arlee Fire, East Missoula Volunteer Fire, Mineral County as well as Ravalli and some other counties were able to secure the same PPE that we were given about a week ago.”
Bridger Aerospace refitted some of their equipment to manufacture face shields for first responders at no charge.

Holtz said the donation was made by Bridger Aerospace at about 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Missoula International Airport.
