The weather may be far from perfect Saturday, but it could be good enough for you to test out a paddle board for free.

Montana State Parks will host the second annual Big Paddle at Frenchtown Pond State Park this Saturday (June 8) from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be something for paddle enthusiasts of all ages and ability levels, and of course a chance to get acquainted with the sport if you are not already.

You can test out demo equipment from the Trail Head. Experts will be on hand with advice and instruction while you demo new equipment. And you can learn about different paddle sports and a variety of new crafts.

To add to the fun, there's the Kids Tent, a food truck, live music, informational booths with activities and more. No preregistration needed. Just show up. It promises to be a great time and in spite of a little chill in the air (and water), you can't beat free, right?
