Foo Fighters have become perennial favorites at most award shows, garnering plenty of love in the rock community but having enough crossover success to be celebrated at mainstream music events. But somehow the band has never gotten around to performing at the Brit Awards, the U.K. equivalent to the Grammys. That will be rectified this year.

"We are so delighted to announce that four-time BRIT winners and one of the world’s most successful bands Foo Fighters will perform on The BRITs stage for the first time on 21 February," reads a statement from the Brit Awards. "The international superstars will deliver one of their legendary live performances alongside performances from Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Stormzy and Dua Lipa."

“Anyone who was lucky enough to witness one of their shows on the recent sold out U.K. tour, or their set at Glastonbury - which was undoubtedly one of the best performances the festival has ever seen and a night that will be talked about forever - will know why Foo Fighters are the biggest and most exciting rock band in the world," stated BRITs Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland Jason Iley. "Quite remarkably they have never performed at The BRITs, so I am over the moon to confirm a massive BRITs exclusive to have them grace our stage.”

The invite and the fact that they have not taken part in one of the ceremonies before also caught the band by surprise as well, as they tweeted the following:

The band does have a few BRIT Awards on their shelf, though: they won Best International Album in 2008 for Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace and were named the Best International Group in 2008, 2012 and 2015. The nominations for this year's ceremony have not been revealed as of yet, but it would not be surprising if they got a few more nominations for their latest album, 2017's Concrete and Gold.

The BRIT Awards will take place Feb. 21 at the O2 in London.
