Watch Eddie Vedder Cover Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Hurt’
Eddie Vedder devoted half of his set at Citibank Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last night (March 28) to covers. One of the songs he performed was Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt," and you can watch it below.
According to Setlist.fm, 14 of the 27 numbers that made up the evening were not from Pearl Jam's or Vedder's solo catalog. In addition to "Hurt," these included classics by Pink Floyd ("Brain Damage"), Tom Petty ("Wildflowers"), Warren Zevon ("Keep Me In Your Heart"), James Taylor ("Millworker"), U2 ("Bad"), Bob Dylan ("Masters of War"), John Lennon ("Imagine") and the Clash ("Should I Stay or Should I Go").
Vedder's solo dates in Sao Paulo -- last night, tonight and tomorrow -- wrap up a brief South American tour for Pearl Jam, which marked their first concerts since a pair of August 2016 shows at Chicago's Wrigley Field. Highlights from those dates were released as a concert film, Let's Play Two, which also explored Vedder's lifelong love of the Chicago Cubs. They'll be playing in Europe throughout June and July, and will return to the U.S. for seven stadium shows in four cities.
The group reportedly finished sessions for a new album, their first since 2013's Lightning Bolt, working in their hometown of Seattle with longtime producer Brendan O'Brien. Although the title or release date has yet to be revealed, they teased it earlier this month with the single "Can't Deny Me," which they first gave out as a download to members of their fan club a few days before.
