A Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Needs A Kidney Transplant And Your Help

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community for help in supporting Lieutenant Robert Kennedy. Missoula County Sheriff T.J. McDermott says Kennedy has been with the office for 16 years and is in need of a kidney transplant.

“The Deputy Sheriff’s Association purchased some shirts that we are selling for $20 a piece,” said McDermott. “There is a GoFundMe page, GoFundMe Robert Kennedy. We are also taking donations at our office and it is important to note that the checks need to be made out to the Robert Kennedy Benefit Fund. We are trying to support him the best we can as an office.”

Undersheriff Rich Maricelli says it is nice to be able to help Kennedy because he has done so much good for others.

“We say he has had a distinguished law enforcement career, but he is probably even a better person than he is a cop if that even makes any sense,” said Maricelli. “He really is. He is a good friend and he has been strong and courageous throughout this situation. He has been able to maintain his sense of humor to the point where he had some input with the design of the shirt so it was kind of a collaborative effort.”

According to Maricelli, the expenses for this type of treatment can reach up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. He says their insurance only goes to a certain extent and that the donations will be used to help the Kennedy family with anything they might need.
