Washington Prime Group and the Southgate Mall are giving 2020 high school and college graduates a chance to show off their creativity and score one of 13 shopping sprees. The top prize is a $3000 gift card, other prizes include 2 $2000 gift cards, and 10 $500 gift cards.

You know how graduates often decorate the tops of their mortarboards? That's what they want to see! Post a pic of your decorated cap on Instagram with the hashtag #scholarspree for a chance to win. Pretty simple, right? And presentation is everything, I suggest displaying your artistic creation surrounded by some of your school memorabilia, maybe your cap lying on top of your year book, or, even better, you wearing it! The deadline to enter is June 12, 2020 and the entry form is here. The 13 entries with the most votes will win.

I can already tell by looking at the current entries that Missoula will slay this contest. Also, if you're not participating in an in person graduation, you can decorate a digital cap for entry here.

Ever wonder where the cap's name comes from? The flat top of the cap looks like the tool that bricklayers use to hold mortar. Mortar is that cementy stuff that goes between bricks. But using the phrase "graduation cap" is totally acceptable if you wanna stick with that. Square hat works too, whatever, just get to work on that art project to win your shopping spree!
