"Hearing the ice cream truck was a magical part of my childhood," says Stacey, one of the '2 Moms' whose grandmother lived on the South Hill "we would roller skate down the hill until we found the sno cone man. Franki says if he was the sno cone man, we could be the ice cream moms."

Franki and Stacey were just approved to operate their penguin themed ice cream truck, 2 Moms Ice Cream, in Missoula this summer, you can find them starting this morning (May 11th) at 11 a.m. at McCormick Park. One of the best parts is nothing among their variety of ice creams, snacks and drinks is over $1.50. The moms explain, "we're not in this to make a ton of money, we simply want to promote diversity in Missoula and get out into the community."

And there is no shortage of diversity when it comes to Franki and Stacey's family. These two amazing members of Missoula's gay community are guardians to a pair of Native American foster children. Even their pets are special needs rescues. Their boys are 5 and 6 years old, Stacey and Franki's eyes light up when they talk about how proud they are of their kids, and they mentioned that their guardianship wouldn't be possible without the assistance of their CASA volunteer. "We want to get it out there that CASA volunteers are an important and necessary part of the system." If you're interested in becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate, check out what it takes at their website.

As for the penguin theme? It comes from the book 'And Tango Makes 3' about  "two male penguins, Roy and Silo, who create a family together." In addition, penguins will take in orphaned baby penguins, and, once they choose a partner, they stay together for life. How precious is that!?

If you can't make it to McCormick park today, give their Facebook page a 'like' so you can join them for their next event. Happy Mom's Day to Franki & Stacey, and to all of the selfless moms who make the phrase "it takes a village" work.
