Every year, the first day of the Ravalli County Fair starts with the Ravalli County Fair Parade on Hamilton's Main Street.

Each year, the parade includes people who have never been in a parade before. It's easy to do. You walk into the Bitterroot Chamber of Commerce office next to the Safeway parking lot at Main and US 93 in Hamilton. You tell them what you're planning to do in the parade - such as ride a horse, promote your political party or election campaign, advertise your business or organization, show off your sports team, adult novelty and child novelty or classic and antique automobiles.

The Chamber of Commerce will hand you a large number to display on your entry and you leave. No entry fee!

Then, Wednesday, August 30, you head over to North 8th Street in Hamilton to be lined up in the proper place of the parade lineup. The entries are also judged at this time. Then, at 10 a.m., off you go!

If you don't want to be in the parade, come watch! Steve Fullerton of KLYQ 1240 AM Radio will be on the downtown public address system - announcing the entries (and the cateogory winners) at our usual announcing stand in front of Bitterroot Drug.
