You'll see diesel engines, steam locomotives, freight cars, passenger expresses, boxcars and even a caboose or two at the massive model railroad layout below Valley Drug in Stevensville. The Bitterroot Valley Model Railroad Club has a detailed world of buildings, mountains, highways and roads - around it all, the trains. Mainly HO Gauge, the various trains sport all sorts of railroad logos and there's always something coming around the corner in the busy system of tracks.

To get there, you go to the Kohl Building in Stevensville, which houses Valley Drug and Variety on the corner of Third and Main. Behind Valley Drug is a foyer with a stairway down to the basement. That's where the engineers are in control of the miniature railway. It's been there for over 11 years and it seems like there's always something new as we appraoch Christmas. The trains will be running every Saturday until Christmas and the "depot" opens at 11 a.m., with the last locomotive heading for the roundhouse at at 3 p.m. Toy trains and Christmas - they just naturally go together!
