Royal Blood are one of rock's most promising acts, experiencing a meteoric rise following the success of their eponymous debut album. The duo of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher have built up a considerable buzz around their forthcoming sophomore effort, How Did We Get So Dark?, having performed the previously released single "Lights Out" on Late Night With Seth Meyers (video below) as well as issuing a music video for the freshly released "I Only Lie When I Love You" (video above).

There's an immediacy to "I Only Lie When I Love You," which spans a punchy, sub-three minute runtime. Kerr opens up with a high, nasal-toned exclamation of the song's title, working in a chunky groove (his bass runs through both guitar and bass rigs) with a start and stop momentum that gives the single an explosive feel every time the drums come crashing back in, moving things along.

Last night (June 8), Royal Blood hit the set of talk show Late Night With Seth Meyers to perform "Lights Out," much like they did on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in early May. The duo's dynamic track flows with light percussion and a bobbing rhythm, ebbing with climactic choruses that were matched by flashing strobes as the band was bathed in a swath of blue lights, which later faded to red.

How Did We Get So Dark? will be released on June 16 through Warner Bros. and fans can place their pre-orders at the Royal Blood website. The band has booked out two small headlining North American runs, the first of which is currently underway, wrapping up on June 11 in Manchester, Tenn. with more dates starting up again on July 31.
