Montana Securities Commissioner Matt Rosendale will host a roundtable presentation on capital formation for small to medium-sizes businesses on Tuesday in Missoula, called the Invest in Montana Tour.

Spokesman Kyle Schmauch said Rosendale and his staff will host event at the new Stockman Bank on West Broadway.

“It’s a statewide tour headed to 19 towns including Missoula talking about ways that Montana businesses to raise private capital from investors,” Schmauch said. “People will learn the proper procedures to follow with Montana’s securities laws, how to do crowdfunding, and also ways for investors to look for legitimate investment opportunities, and be protected as well.”

Schmauch said there are certainly some scams that business owners must look out for, but there are also many legitimate investment opportunities in Montana.

“There are opportunities to invest Montana dollars into Montana companies so we can grow our Montana economy,” he said. “We’ll be talking about ways for investors to know about the disclosure requirements that any investment that they are buying into should be providing and you’ll also hear from our office on how people are verified as legitimate investment ventures.”

The meeting will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the new Stockman Bank at 321 West Broadway.
