Remember the Hotel Broadwater in Helena?

If you grew up in, or visited, Helena in the early 70's, you are likely familiar with the Hotel Broadwater. It was one of the most known and remains one of the most legendary structures in Montana history. In fact, the elementary school and swimming pool are currently named after Broadwater.

Charles Broadwater was a railroad, real estate and banking tycoon in the late 1800's. He build the swanky 50 room hotel in 1889 for $500,000 and at the time, featured the world's largest indoor pool. It became popular as a health spa for the rich, as during the time period, Helena had the most millionaires per capita than any other city in the world. The hotel was demolished in 1974.
