The Primus/Clutch tour stopped in Kansas City last night (August 5th) and the rain was so bad that the show was moved from an outdoor to an indoor venue. That's not likely to happen here, but it turned out to be a helluva rad show according to attendees.

Both acts on the inspired double bill pair humor with heaviness. Clutch opened the show with 75 minutes of testosterone-fueled blues, boogie and metal that sounded as if it was first released on 8-track tapes in the early ’70s. The quartet’s throwback sound is coupled with over-the-top lyrics.

Primus and Clutch always put on incredibly impressive shows, top that with some witty humor and stage antics and you're guaranteed to have a perfect night this Friday at the Kettlehouse Amphitheater.

In other Primus news, they are set to release their first album of original material since Green Naugahyde. The tour to support the new album doesn't start until next month, perhaps we'll still get a sneak preview of "The Saturated Seven" at the Missoula show? The new record was inspired by a children's book, here's more.
