The road has been an unpredictable environment for Morrissey in recent years, but on Oct. 31, the former Smiths frontman opened his latest U.S. tour without a hitch, treating a Portland, Ore., crowd to a career-spanning setlist that ran the gamut from hits and fan favorites to brand new songs.

Morrissey's 22-song set, which you can look over below along with more video from the night, started off with the singer's cover of Elvis Presley's "You'll Be Gone" before segueing into the latest single from his upcoming Low in High School LP, "I Wish You Lonely." He then moved on to the Smiths number "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish" — the first time the song's been performed live by any of the former band members.

That opening trio set the tone for the show, which found Morrissey plucking songs freely from the various phases of career. The evening featured a generous helping of material from Low in High School, with five songs in all making their way into the set; while understandably focusing on his solo years, the show also made room for a cover of the Pretenders hit "Back on the Chain Gang" and four Smiths numbers, including the aforementioned "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish" and "How Soon Is Now?"

Morrissey is scheduled to remain in the U.S. through early December, delivering 16 dates in all; look over the complete list of currently announced shows here. Low in High School is set for a Nov. 17 release.
