We were holding out hope that Missoula's beloved party store would survive pandemic closures, staff shortages, and shipping problems. Unfortunately, that's not the case, for Party America, which has been in the Northgate Plaza for the past 23 years.

Sometime in 2020 I went there to get some balloons and they said they were short on choices but if I brought some in they would fill them with helium, and that's what I did. At that time, they still seemed to have about 50% of their regular inventory, and a solid selection of theme party supplies. However, when I visited on January 11th of this year, there was a sign on the door saying January 31st will be their final day in business.

The cashier said they simply could not catch up with all of the delays in shipping and the nationwide supply chain issues. She said the very difficult decision was made and the employees were informed last week.

Parents, kids, and college students alike have enjoyed Party America through the years, counting on the store for fun balloon arrangements, supplies for parties big and small, and even Halloween costumes and wigs. We have gone there a minimum of once per year to get our large mylar 'number' balloons for whatever age our son was turning on his birthday. It's sad to see the shelves empty.

Outside of helium fill-ups and greeting cards, everything in the store is 25% off so get in there while you can.

We wish the best of luck to the staff and owners at Party America, our thanks to them for more than two decades of helping to create great memories.
