Both Missoula fire and police officials are investigating a suspicious fire that was reported to 9-1-1 early Sunday morning on Turner Street on the city's north side.

Battalion Chief Derek Mullins said the call came in at about 3:30 a.m.

"The fire was reported in the 1700 block of Turner Street," Mullins began. "When fire crews arrived, heavy fire and smoke was showing just outside of a business on Turner Street. Crews found some plastics and wires and computer parts that were on fire and threatening the building. Crews got on scene and made quick work of pulling the fire out."

Mullins said the fire was suspicious in nature.

"We think the fire is suspicious at this time and we've got our investigators on the scene looking into any leads," he said. "We've also got Missoula police looking at the fire, as well. There was no damage to the commercial building that was next to it."

Mullins said three type 1 fire engines responded, with a total of nine firefighters, along with a ladder truck, an assistant chief and a fire investigator. He said no civilians or firefighters were injured.
