The Hamilton Broncs are the Southwestern Class A Conference champions with a 40-0 win over Dillon Friday night at Haynes Field in Hamilton. The Broncs used interceptions in the first quarter to run up the score and led 20-0 at the beginning of the second quarter. Their half time lead was 28-0 and in the third quarter they scored two more times for the 40-0 numbers. No one scored after that. The Broncs had trouble with PAT's and they scored extra points by running the ball instead of kicking it. At the 40 to 0 score, the Montana high school 35-point rule was activated and the clock kept running through the rest of the game, except for time-outs. This a record SIXTH time this season for Hamilton to outscore its opponents by enough to start the 35-point rule.

With the win, the Hamilton team will claim the Southwestern Class A Title and are heading into the State Playoffs, which are played on Saturday afternoons. But with the win, they also get a week off. Their season record gives them a "Bye" for the first weekend of playoffs, October 27. And, it looks like their first playoff game November 3rd will be a home game. School officials are still hoping to use the new football field for that game, but construction continues and a decision has not yet been made. KLYQ Radio plans to carry the Hamilton playoff games and will pre-empt University of Montana Grizzly football when we do. Speaking of "bye" weekends, the Grizzlies are sitting out this weekend and will be back in action October 27.
