We are so fortunate here in Missoula to not only have a wide variety of breweries, but also to have breweries that genuinely care about, and give back to the community. This is exactly what the mission is at Imagine Nation and they do a really great job with it.

I had some fun peeps on my morning show to talk about upcoming gatherings at Imagine Nation, including local comic Michael Beers. He and Lauren are part of a local non profit called Base that is in danger of closing due to state wide budget cuts.

What does BASE provide?

– A safe, welcoming community center where people of all abilities can be themselves, learn, meet friends, be themselves, and have fun.

– Mountains of WOW (With Or Without disability) programing, which includes all-abilities yoga, game nights, improv classes, open mics performances, art projects, poetry, dance lessons, and loads more.

– A place where people of all abilities, ages, and interests can come to connect with someone else, laugh and eat a bite, talk to a mentor, or just get a break from the everyday world.

– And it’s all always FREE to EVERYONE.

The fundraising kick off campaign is tonight (4/24) from 5-8 p.m. at Imagine Nation, stop by for a great beer and to find out more about Base.

On Thursday, U of M graduate student Amy Thompson will host a portrait exhibit and evening of storytelling with "Ouch, Ouch, That Hurts."

Please join us for a portrait exhibit and evening of live storytelling on all things surrounding the experience of pain - of the body, of the heart, or of life in general. The portrait exhibit will show and tell the brave and real stories of pain. The storytelling stage is to celebrate epic journeys through all things painful and all things healing. This is a stage to celebrate life, warts and all. All stories are welcome - with special invitation to those who experience pain, and healthcare providers/healers. What has pain taught you lately?

The photo exhibit is from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 and storytelling is from about 6:30 to 7:30ish.
