Wyoming Game and Fish Department informed Montana FWP that a mule deer in Grand Teton National Park has been confirmed as infected with chronic wasting disease (CWD). The buck had been hit by a car and the National Park Service collected tissue samples that tested positive for the disease.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks issued a news release that noted Montana has three CWD-positive areas, including one along the Wyoming border. CWD also was found in deer in the Star Valley and near Pinedale, Wyoming last year. Montana will be establishing future priority testing areas in hunting districts along and close to the Wyoming border. Recently, more check stations were added to the list of places that will be accepting tissue to check for CWD. For more information about the disease, see the Montana FWP website.
