Bad Wolves have experienced gigantic success with their cover of the Cranberries’ “Zombie,” and they’re giving back to the O'Riordan family. During their NYC gig last night (June 19) Bad Wolves invited the children of Dolores O’Riordan onstage and presented them with a check for $250,000.

O’Riordan died suddenly on Jan. 15, just hours before she was supposed to join Bad Wolves in the studio to lend her voice to their “Zombie” cover. "When we heard she liked our version and wanted to sing on it, it was the greatest compliment a new band, or any band for that matter, could have received,” Bad Wolves wrote. “We hope we can still make her proud by sharing our version of 'Zombie' with the world."

The success of Bad Wolves’ cover has been massive, going gold in the U.S. and hitting No. 1 in over 17 countries. It’s also racked up an incredible 90 million views on YouTube between the music video and the official audio.

“It’s been our extreme honor to champion this song,” said vocalist Tommy Vext. “In 1994, this record sold 40 million copies worldwide. It was the soundtrack to my youth, I grew up here in Brooklyn. Today is a very, very special night because Dolores’ family is here with us. We want to present them with this check from the money that you guys spent on our version of the song.”

“Our sadness the day Dolores passed was nothing compared to that of her children and her family. In light of the tragedy, donating our proceeds to her children was the only thing that made sense. The ultimate goal is to present them with a $1,000,000 check – and the fact we’re a quarter of the way there is beyond incredible,” reflects Vext in an additional statement. “The connection that people have to this song, the stories, the memories and the kids who are hearing this song through Bad Wolves for the first time - it’s a true testament to the timelessness of their mother’s songwriting that will live on forever, and we are so grateful to be able to do this for them.”
