At the Gorillaz Show in Seattle, the Band Played an Ode to…Idaho

This wasn’t one of those concert moments where the band accidentally thanks the wrong city, as in “thank you Cleveland!” and the show is in Columbus. No, the Gorillaz knew exactly where they were when they dedicated a song to Idaho…twice.

Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn sat at the piano and explained that they didn’t play in Idaho, but they did stop there to celebrate a crew member’s birthday while traveling to Seattle. He said they fell in love with the beauty of Idaho and ended up at Bruce Willis’ ski resort, and although they didn’t meet Bruce himself, he did wind up in a video on the big screen during “Stylo” during the Seattle concert.

As you can see, Damon played the world premiere of “Ode To Idaho” not once, but twice. Near the end of the first round, he announced that he didn’t like the sound of it, and if they were going to play it, it should be perfect, and started the “Ode To Idaho” over. It was definitely bizarre, but hilarious, and Idaho most certainly got their shout outs, even though we were in Washington.
