They say when two companies compete against each other, the consumer is the winner.  We'll see if that's true when it comes to trash pickup.

You'll soon have an option besides Republic Services when it comes to your garbage.

L&L Site Services was just granted permission to haul trash in Missoula County by the Montana Public Service Commission.

The company applied for a certificate of public convenience and necessity (PCN) to operate in Missoula County in March.  A vote in August denied their request.

In September, L & L petitioned to have the decision reconsidered. A 3-2 vote was approved for reconsideration this week and a vote of the same margin granted the certificate of public convenience.

Will it mean better options?  Will it mean better rates?  Will it cause much difference in the way your garbage is handled?  Time will tell.
